Torsionally Flexible Couplings

Service factors have evolved from experience & are based on past failures. Values listed in this brochure are intended only as a general guide, and are typical of usual service requirements. For systems which frequently utilise the peak torque capacity of the power source, verify that the magnitude of this peak torque does not exceed the 1.0 service factor rating of the coupling selected. Applications which involve extreme repetitive shock or high energy load absorption characteristics should be referred, with full particulars to NENCO.

Note: Values contained in the table are to be applied to smooth power sources such as electric motors, steam turbines, and internal combustion engines of four or more cylinders. For drives involving internal combustion engines of two cylinders, add 0.3, and for a single cylinder, add 0.7 to the values listed. Service factors become less significant when the load & duty cycles are known. It is only when a system is not analysed in depth that service factors must be used.

The specifications provided are based on several years of research in the field of flexible couplings. Under field conditions, however, unknown parameters and conditions may restrict the value of the aforesaid calculations, so that practical tests by the user are necessary. Because of the numerous applications of our products, we cannnot guarantee that our recommendations are correct in every case.
